Yasmin Mawaz-Khan - founder, executive director

Yasmin is a filmmaker, metal sculptor and social justice activist. She speaks three languages: Farsi, English, Urdu and studied German in high school. She received a Bachelor's of Arts in Film and Digital Media from the University of California in 2003. Yasmin currently lives in San Francisco and works as a producer, videographer and editor. Her latest documentary project is called "Ace in the Hole." She is inspired by the process of creation, collaborating with people and seeing a project from concept to completion.

Shabbir Siraj - video editor

Shabbir Siraj is a professional photographer and filmmaker with a keen interest in other art forms. Shabbir obtained his diploma in film direction in 2006 and since then he has produced and directed short films and corporate films. A prolific writer, Shabbir has worked as an editor for Destination Jeddah, a travel and lifestyle magazine, and has also written several short subject screenplays for aspiring filmmakers. He has worked as associate director and editor on projects helmed by film directors based in Mumbai, Jeddah, San Francisco and Toronto. Shabbir currently calls San Francisco his home and he is in the process of writing his second feature length screenplay.

Jennifer Witherspoon - communications officer

Jennifer is an award winning film producer and accomplished environmental communications director. In 2006 she produced an award winning film, Discover Hetch Hetchy with Harrison Ford, that won Best Short at the Wild & City Film Festival in Nevada City and was selected for the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. Kiazad Ehyavideo editor

He has a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Cinema from San Francisco State University and has completed a two-year video production internship at the San Francisco Film Society.  Currently works as a freelance video shooter and editor of documentary, events, and narrative style content, while creating narrative projects on the side.  His current project he's directing is a short narrative film about the son of an undocumented migrant worker, and has been sponsored by the San Francisco Film Society. His multi-cultural upbringing, and his parents’ artistic backgrounds have provided him with a lifetime of being around people and fine artists from all over the world.  Having studied and practiced in both painting and theatre, he has come to find filmmaking the perfect fusion of his passions, composition and performance.  His films are motivated by the struggle for social justice and portraying underrepresented communities.  See his page at www.kiazad.com.
